New Collet Grade Now Available
|
When we integrated the new Collet Measurement System (above) into production and quality control, it's ability to simultaneously measure the exterior geometry and the internal bore characteristics, allowed us to develop a technique to "fine tune" a collet to virtually zero runout (TIR). We have verified that this fine tuning actually does work, and that it is not simply an mental artifact of living in Colorado, a state with legalized marijuana.
We are please to announce the availability of collets with the new Extreme-Precision (EP) designation. To qualify as EP, the TIR at the face of the collet must be less than (or equal to) 0.0001" (0.0025mm, way tiny!) AND the maximum TIR measured at a point 1.0" (25.4mm) from the face must be less than (or equal to) 0.0003" (0.005mm). This compares to our existing Ultra-Precision (UP) grade that boasts a max TIR at the collet face that is less than (or equal to) 0.0002" (0.005mm) and a max TIR 1.0" down the tool that is less than (or equal to) 0.0005" (0.013mm). Collets with the new grade are currently only available for the Dewalt 611 / Porter-Cable 450 routers. We anticipate having EP collets for our other supporter routers within the next few months (depending on when new production runs occur).
